DANVILLE, Va. — April 11, 2026 — Averett University’s men’s lacrosse team honored its senior class before
a 1 p.m. matchup against Shenandoah University at Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium, recognizing six student-athletes for their dedication and impact on the program.
The ceremony highlighted Cameron Shadduck (No. 0, Burlington, N.C.), Matthew “Chewy” Clark (No. 9, Shrewsbury, Mass.), Emmet Wood (No. 11, Falls Church, Va.), Luis Martinez (No. 14, Sterling, Va.), Casey Peterson (No. 18, Greenville, S.C.), and Angel Pascual Roman (No. 20, Arlington, Va.). Each senior was introduced individually and presented with a commemorative jersey in front of teammates, coaches, family members, and fans.

Following the ceremony, Averett faced Shenandoah University, losing 4-16 despite a competitive effort throughout the game.
Zachary Hulbert led Averett’s offense with two goals. Despite 27 shots on goal, Shenandoah’s defense limited the Cougars’ scoring opportunities.
Defensively, Averett showed resilience against Shenandoah’s offense. Casey Peterson contributed with key ground balls and physical play, while Luis Martinez and Angel Pascual Roman played important roles in transition and possession. The Cougars combined for multiple saves while facing a high volume of shots.
There was effort shown throughout the entire game by the Cougars across the whole lineup, with players contributing ground balls and causing turnovers in an attempt to shift momentum against a strong opponent.
As the regular season approaches its conclusion, Averett looks to build on this experience while carrying forward the leadership and example set by its senior class.
