As the new academic year nears, the Office of Housing is interested in students being prepared to the new school year way ahead of time. The initial one is to become familiar with the process of the housing selection.
Application, It Starts with the Application.
Students have to complete a housing application. It is quite easy to do, you only require your name, phone number, and email address. Imagine it as a precursor to all other things: students can do nothing else in the selection process until they complete their application. The deadline of submitting the application is the 3rd of April.
During the application process, students also have an option of their meal plan in the coming year and can identify a house mate using the system.
The Working of the Timeline.
The entire process takes approximately three weeks. The initial two weeks are dedicated to the completion of the application, and this means that students have sufficient time to fill out the application and engage in conversations with potential roommates. It is during the final week that you finally decide on the housing.
The groups will have a dedicated timeframe and a day, between 7 AM and noon, during which they can log in and select the available options. This is the plan: students who have 90 or more credits will have the opportunity to choose their dorms since April 14th.
And all with 90 or less choose after April 17.
You should make sure to log in as early as you can on your day of assignment since the housing selection will occur simultaneously across all levels of credit in their respective windows.
What are the various dorms available at the school.
Returning students will have an array of choices to make including Bishop Hall, Comets Apartments, and suite-style rooms, and traditional rooms. This is based on the availability.
Choosing a Housemate
Once you have completed your application, you can find other students who have completed theirs and be matched up in the system. Subsequently, the list of available rooms capable of accommodating your group is shortened by the system. There is no need to worry that you do not have an idea of who to share your house with, you will be assigned as a single select and can browse on assignments that are good to a single student or can identify open space in rooms that are not fully occupied.
Have you lost your chance of filling in the application? The second opportunity to complete the application exists.
Special Accommodations
The Department of housing is able to assist the students with disabilities in receiving the housing accommodations they require. When they are approved, they will be reserved some housing that will accommodate them. Accommodation plan of a student is directly handled by the housing office.
Dates for Moving In
The official move-in dates are not already determined, however, classes begin on August 19th, and move-in most probably is going to be on August 17th or 18th.
How to ensure the Process is Smooth.
The best tips that the director gave me are to complete your application within the two-week time frame, pick your flat mate before April 3rd date, and log in as early as possible on the day you are supposed to make a choice. The earlier you arrive the better you will be making decisions.
