As the semester comes to a close at Averett University, students are beginning to turn their attention toward summer plans filled with relaxation, work, and time away from campus. After a busy year of classes and activities, many are ready for a break and a chance to reset.
For freshman Tanner Bridges, summer is all about slowing things down after the fast pace of his first year. “My first year went by quick, and it took some getting used to,” Bridges said. “This summer I’m just trying to chill, train for next season, and be around my family.
Junior Aj Orlando has a different mindset heading into the break, focusing more on staying productive while still enjoying his time off. “I’m working most of the summer and just trying to stack some money,” Orlando said. “But I’ll still make time to hang out with friends and train for next season.”
Senior Dominic Pascoe is approaching the summer with a sense of urgency as graduation approaches. With his college career nearly complete, he’s focused on preparing for what comes next. “This summer is important for me,” Pascoe said. “I’m working a lot and trying to figure out my next steps after school. It’s kind of real now.”
Even with different priorities, many students share the same goal of finding a balance between responsibility and relaxation. Some plan to travel or take short trips, while others are staying closer to home and keeping things simple.
No matter their plans, students at Averett University are using the summer as a chance to recharge and refocus. Whether it’s working, spending time with family, or just taking a break, the time away from campus gives them an opportunity to come back ready for the next chapter.
