With spring break coming up right around the corner at Averett University, students are looking forward to having time away from classes and practice. For many students, the week offers a chance to rest both physically and mentally before the final stretch of the semester.
Freshman Akram Guliyev, who recently finished his wrestling season, said he is ready for a break after having to balance school and competition. “Now that my season is over, I just want to relax and spend time with my family,” Guliyev said. “It’s been a long year, and I haven’t seen my family in a while.”
Junior Adrian Samano plans to stay active over break. “I’ll train a little and hang out with teammates,” Samano said. “It’s a good time to reset before finishing the season.” He added that during time off, staying consistent is important for the last stretch of competition.
For senior Jackson Higgins, this spring break feels more meaningful since it is his last one as a college student. “It’s my last spring break, I’m going to enjoy it.” Higgins said.
As the campus prepares for spring break, these students say the break is not just about a break but it’s about recovery and getting ready to finish the academic year strong.
