About
The Chanticleer serves as a source of information for the traditional program students, faculty and staff of Averett University.
The first issue of The Chanticleer, Averett’s student newspaper, was published in 1922. The publication is named after the rooster, Chauntecleer, in Chaucer’s “Nun’s Priest Tale.” Chanter, in French, means to “to sing” and cler means “clear.”
The Chanticleer was distributed primarily as a printed publication until 2019.
