Homecoming weekend at Averett University was filled with energy, laughter, and plenty of school spirit as students, families, and alumni came together to celebrate. From the tailgate scene to the game itself, this year’s event felt bigger and more exciting than ever before.
For many students, the best part of the weekend wasn’t just the football game, it was the people. “My favorite thing about homecoming is being around all of my friends, hanging out, and having a good time,” Tyler Greene, a junior Aviation student said. The relaxed, fun atmosphere brought everyone together, making it a perfect chance to unwind and reconnect.

Several students noticed that this year’s Homecoming had a different feel compared to the past. “I think homecoming was different this year because I feel like there was a lot bigger of a turnout,” Greene said. “Family came, we grilled out, and everyone just seemed to be having a lot more fun than past years.” The sense of community and togetherness stood out, showing how much Averett’s school spirit continues to grow.
Of course, not everything went perfectly especially when it came to the scoreboard. “If I could change one thing, I would probably change the fact that we lost,” Greene said. “But my actual answer is I wish I could change how big our football fandom was. I feel like it would make for an even better time.”
Even with the loss, Homecoming weekend proved once again that Averett’s strength lies in its students who show up, cheer loud, and make memories that last long after the final whistle.
