Students Enjoy AU’s Newest Dining Option: The Spread

Averett students had a nice surprise on their return to campus. What was the surprise? It was a new place to eat on the main campus. “The Spread”, Averett’s new sandwich shop officially
opened last month and is located next to Jut’s Cafe. The Spread is on the order of a Subway or Jersey Mike’s. You go in and tell the employees what you want on your sandwich and they make
it fresh.

“I’m looking forward to having some new options to choose from. I think this will be great,” Wyatt Dowdy, a sophomore from Richmond, said.

The Spread offers Italian, Buffalo Chicken, Meatball, Cuban and Alabama BBQ Chicken subs or can choose Ham & American,
Italian, Turkey & Swiss or Four Cheese sandwiches.

Jaden Flores, a sophomore from VA Beach said the Chicken Caesar wrap is his favorite.

Students can use their meal swipes to pay for their subs or use cash. The Spread also offers a few paninis and several sides.

The Spread is open Monday-Thursday 11am-10pm, Friday and Saturday 4pm- midnight and Sunday 4pm-10pm.

“I think a lot of students will frequent The Spread, because their hours fill in the gaps when The Den is closed. This is a great addition to campus, because I always have trouble finding something to eat on the weekends, because the cafeteria has limited hours,” Wyatt Parker, a sophomore
from Long Beach, NY., said

The university also welcomed a new food service director, Jason Swanger. If you have anyquestions about any of the dining options Swanger can be reached at swanger-
[email protected]. For more information or to see the detailed menu please visit www.Averett.edu and search dining hall/Jut’s.
