Averett University Sophomore Kimberly Ofosu has taken on multiple leadership roles on campus, aiming to foster student engagement and community. Originally from Ghana, currently majoring in biomedical Science she serves as the Freshman Representative in the Student Government Association (SGA), an executive board member of the Financial Literacy Club, and a member of the Afro-Caribbean Club. Through her involvement, she hopes to enhance the student experience and create meaningful connections among her peers.
Ofosu’s leadership journey is driven by a deep sense of responsibility and passion for student advocacy. She views her role in SGA as an opportunity to address student concerns and organize events that bring the campus together. She believes that leadership is both a privilege and a challenge, requiring dedication to making a lasting impact.
“I’ve really enjoyed being involved with SGA because it gives me the opportunity to connect with different students and work toward solutions that benefit everyone,” Ofosu said.
Beyond her work in SGA, Ofosu has participated in several civic engagement initiatives, including Good Samaritan Day and the planning of SGA Week. These events focus on student involvement and acts of kindness, which she considers some of the most rewarding aspects of her leadership experience.
Looking ahead, Ofosu hopes to encourage greater student participation in campus events. She is committed to leaving behind a legacy of stronger student engagement and a more connected university community.
“I want students to feel like they are part of something bigger. I hope my time in leadership helps bring people together and makes campus life more vibrant,” Ofosu shared.
In addition to her leadership roles, Ofosu enjoys attending concerts and plays as a way to immerse herself in different cultural experiences. She also serves as a Student Ambassador, a role that allows her to interact with prospective students and introduce them to Averett’s campus life. Exploring local restaurants is another favorite pastime, helping her engage with the broader community.
“Engaging in different activities has not only allowed me to explore my interests but has also strengthened my ability to collaborate with others,” Ofosu said, “Working with a team has shown me the importance of shared effort in making a meaningful impact.”
Through her dedication and active participation, Ofosu exemplifies the qualities of a committed student leader, striving to create a more engaging and inclusive campus experience at Averett University.
