Nina Moore, a Junior Resident Assistant (RA) at Averett University, is balancing her academic journey, campus life, and big dreams for the future.
Currently majoring in English with a minor in African American studies, Nina anticipates graduating in 2026 but hopes to finish early. Post-graduation, she plans to pursue a master’s degree at Virginia State University and live in Petersburg with her best friend.
Reflecting on her time at Averett, Nina shares,
“My experiences here have been very important and dear to me. I’ve met some of my best friends—people I’d invite to my wedding, including my maid of honor. These relationships have helped me grow into a person I love.”
Motivated by her family and athletic team, Nina credits them for helping her through challenges in her volleyball career.
“I wouldn’t have gotten this far without them. My team has supported me in ways they may not even realize,” she says.
Nina’s dreams include making a positive impact on her volleyball team and achieving her long-awaited graduation. Surprising to some, Nina is a self-professed fan of Star Wars, Marvel and DC comics, rock music, and anime—a passion she’s had since the fourth grade.
As she continues her journey, Nina’s vibrant personality and determination inspire those around her, both on and off the court.
