Faith Bowlin: Making an impact in Every Role
Averett University is home to many inspiring students, and one such student is Faith Bowlin, a nursing major who has made a lasting impact both academically and socially during her time here. Hailing from Abingdon, Maryland, Faith has embraced every opportunity to grow and connect with the Averett community.
Faith has truly immersed herself in campus life. As a member of several key organizations, she’s not only focusing on her studies but also giving back to the community. She’s an active member of Sister for Sister, a Bonner Leader, and the Student Nurse Association. Her leadership also extends to women’s lacrosse, where she plays an integral role on the team. As a Connection Leader, Faith has had the chance to welcome new students to Averett, making sure they feel as supported and connected as she did when she first arrived.
“I’ve really enjoyed the family environment here at Averett,” Faith shares. “I feel supported by my friends and the staff, and I love how I’ve been able to branch out and meet new people. It’s been a time of growth for me.”
While Faith has enjoyed her time at Averett, she’s excited for what lies ahead.
“I’m looking forward to moving to a new area and starting a job in nursing,” she says. “I’m excited to figure out exactly which field I want to pursue within nursing, but I’m just ready for the next chapter in life.”
Throughout her time at Averett, Faith has been grateful for the guidance and support she’s received from several influential figures in her life.
“Some of the most influential people I’ve met here are April Love, Kimberly Lott, Wendy Childress, Coach Ryan, and Coach Erin,” she says. “They’ve all been there for me when I needed them the most, and I’m thankful for their encouragement. Some of my past teammates have also had a big impact on me.”
Cayden Holdsworth, a biomedical science major and teammate of Faith’s on the women’s lacrosse team, shares what it’s like to have her as both a teammate and a friend.
“Having Faith both as a teammate and a friend is amazing,” Cayden says. “She is extremely helpful and caring on the field, whether it’s helping me one-on-one or lifting the spirits of everyone on the team. As a friend, it’s great to have someone to talk to and always have a positive person to hang out with.”
Cayden also reflects on some special memories with Faith.
“A core memory I have with Faith was the first time I met her when she hosted me for my visit. That experience was one of the main reasons I came to Averett,” she explains. “Another key memory was when she came to visit me after my surgery, bringing such positive energy—it really showed how much she cares.”
As Faith looks to the future, one thing is clear, she is passionate about helping others. Whether on the lacrosse field, in the classroom, or as a nurse, Faith’s compassion and leadership shine through. She leaves Averett with the knowledge that she is prepared to take on new challenges and make a difference wherever she goes.
