As Averett begins a new year, the Office of Admissions is introducing an innovative way of life at Averett. With an expected release date around the end of the semester, Averett Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) will provide valuable support to everyone in the Averett Cougar family.
“Ultimately, I think in the long term, it is going to set Averett up for success in the region,” said Director of Admissions Matthew Mann. “It will be a vehicle of accessible education for many students.”
The A.I. system will be able to answer questions from anyone at Averett, serving as an accessible assistant that you can contact 24/7.

The system has learned the Averett student handbook as well as the various classes available at Averett. The Office of Admissions has been programming it for over a month.
“You can say to it, ‘I want you to do this…’ and it will respond, ‘Oh, okay, we got you,’ and provide the information you need,” Mann explained.
Along with other technologies implemented by Mann and the Office of Admissions, such as ZeeMee—an app that allows students to connect before they arrive—Averett A.I. will help students transition smoothly from high school to college.
More information about Averett A.I. will be released as soon as possible.
