The Theatre apartment is getting ready for the last musical of the school year, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” The performances will take place March 30- 31st at 7 pm, April 1st also at 7 pm, and the last date will take place April 2nd at 2 pm. All shows are in the Frith Fine Arts Center’s Pritchett Auditorium.

This production requires the cast to go through many rehearsals and requires a certain amount of individual practice. The musical consists of lines, music, and choreographing during the performance.

“I am really enjoying being part of the team for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee musical,” Lita Van, a junior playing Marcy Park, said. “I am super excited about the role given to me, the character I will be playing is Marcy Park. Marcy Park is one of the spellers in the musical and was the character I had on the top of my list for auditions. All the cast members and the director Justin Hall have been working hard to make this musical great; also an enjoyable performance for the audience. We want to leave the school year off with a bang! I highly enjoy singing and acting, making this process with my fellow cast members so much fun. Being able to do two of my favorite things on the stage again with my friends is always enjoyable.”

For some of the cast members, this will be their last performance as a student of Averett. The graduating seniors who are a part of this musical are, Belle Nunley, Abe Timm, and Noah Williams.

“This is such a fun and interesting musical to be a part of,” Belle Nunley, a senior playing Logainne Schwartzandgrubinerre, said. “ The musical takes place during a spelling bee. The cast includes the adults and the kids of the spelling bee, who are all between the ages of 10-12 years old. They all have very unique individual personalities, and each speller has their own reasoning they would like to win. The musical is filled with so much music and movement. The show has so many funny and entertaining scenes. You won’t be able to help but pick your favorite speller and route for them to win the spelling bee. I won’t tell you too much about the musical. I don’t want to spoil the show! See you soon!”

This musical will bring humor, singing, and relatable topics to the audience. Come and support the Averett Theatre for one last time before a new school year, and enjoy the last performances of our graduating seniors as students of the university. See you there!
