The annual Navy vs Gold world series took place this past weekend, hosted by the Averett University baseball program. The two teams faced off in a 3 game series to cap off the fall season.

The teams were picked on draft night, two senior players got the task of doing so.

“Being able to pick who I want on my team is very helpful,” Nolan Maccabe, a senior baseball player, said. “During practices I was already building a team in my head.”

Maccabe being the captain of team gold left the navy in the hands of a familiar face.

“Being his roommate I already know how he thinks,” Kyle Wilson, a senior baseball player, said. “ I feel as I have the advantage tonight due to living with him for three years”

After a dominant performance out of team navy in the series, they took the 3-0 sweep against gold.

Big performances for many players on the navy squad ending up leading them to victory.

“Being able to get so much run support from the hitters definitely helped my confidence while out there.” Jake Braun, a sophomore baseball player, said.

After an intense fall season, the Averett University baseball team opens up their spring season on February 11th against Brevard.
