Averett Set to Welcome Kappas and Omegas Campus

Averett is looking to add more fraternities in the fall like the Kappas and the Omegas. This will create more diversity and options to affiliate on campus.

“The Kappas and the Omegas are already planned for the upcoming fall semester,” Casey Scarce, director of student involvement, said. “Diversity in the fraternity and sorority is the goal because in some African American households Kappas and Omegas are tradition.”

Averett wants more sororities for women on campus because they want to show how sororities are just like family.

“Bringing women together in sorority is great idea because I was in sorority and we build relationships with each other and we made a impact on our campus,” Scarce said. Scare believes that eventually adding more sororities will help develop women leaders and help the campus as a whole.

Black Greek life is going to help the Cougars in the fall semester because it will create a place for black male students and they will have a voice in events.

“We already met with the Kappa’s and the Omega’s, “ Scarce said. “They will be recruiting male students in the fall semester.”
