Averett University is holding an art show on the main floor of Blount Library. The art show started March 20 and ends on April 21. Many talented students have a variety of art work in the show for everyone to see.

Art can be described many different ways to everyone. Art to one person may not be art to another.

“Art that depicts anything in a new and interesting way is art for me,” Art Professor Diane Kendrick said.  “This includes the fact that art can be created in many different media. Often traditional subject matter can be expressed in a new way to expand your awareness.”

Art can be anything new and exciting or even by taking traditional pieces and giving them a twist of something new.

“The Art Show is open for your viewing pleasure. Students enjoy comments from other students, professors and the public,” Kendrick said. “Many pieces of artwork are for sale. This is an inexpensive way to start a collection.”

There is a variety of artwork set up in the Blount Library.

“The Art Show is a display of students’ work from drawings, paintings, 2-D designs, 3-D designs, and crafts,” Kendrick said. “The artwork reflects various skill levels.”

This allows for a variety of people with differing interests to each find something that they might enjoy at the art show.

If anyone is interested in having a piece displayed in any upcoming art shows, Kendrick states that typically students are “art majors, minors, or have taken an art course for interest.”

Due to this variety, the art show typically has about 20 participating students and each of them may have a different number of works displayed.

So don’t forget to come show support for the Averett Art Show in Blount Library! There are many amazing pieces if art work here for everyone’s viewing. It will be open until April 21st.
